Access to Zelle® has changed.
Late last year, Zelle issued a statement notifying users of the discontinuation of the Zelle App. Effective April 1, 2025, members who registered their MembersFirst Credit Union Account in the Zelle App to send or receive money are no longer able to do so.
MembersFirst Credit Union does not have plans to offer Zelle as a P2P (Peer-To-Peer) service at this time. Read below for more information.
Why MembersFirst Credit Union Does Not Offer Zelle as a Payment Option
At MembersFirst, our top priority is our members’ safety, security and financial well-being. As part of our commitment to delivering dependable financial solutions that fit your lifestyle, we carefully evaluate all services before making them available. While Zelle is a popular peer-to-peer (P2P) payment option, we need to conduct further research. Until then, we have decided not to offer Zelle as a service for the following reasons:
Security Concerns
Zelle transactions are immediate and cannot be reversed. This poses a risk of loss to members if payments are sent to the wrong person or in the event of fraud. To protect your hard-earned money, we prefer to offer payment options with additional layers of security and fraud protection.
Member Support
Our mission is to provide stress-free financial solutions. Currently, Zelle transactions fall outside the scope of federal protections for unauthorized transactions. This limits our ability to assist you in recovering funds if an error or fraud occurs. We want to ensure that any service we offer allows us to fully support you when challenges arise.

We recognize the importance of moving your money between accounts at other financial institutions and the convenience of quickly transferring funds to family members and peers. We’ve put together a list of available alternatives.
Bill Pay Services
If you have a MembersFirst Checking Account, use our online or mobile banking platform to access Bill Pay. You can securely send payments directly to individuals, businesses, or yourself at other financial institutions. Funds are not immediately available but are usually credited within 1-2 business days.
Transfer to MembersFirst Members
Transfer funds directly to family members at MembersFirst within our phone banking, online banking and mobile app. You will need to have the member’s permission to use this option.
Third-Party Payment Apps
MembersFirst Credit Union does not endorse any of the third-party payment apps listed below as we do not have control of your data or account information when shared with these companies. Please visit the “Third-Party App Safety” section of our website safety tips on interaction with Third-Party Apps.
Some third-party apps that may be used with your MembersFirst account for P2P payments include: PayPal®, Venmo®, and Cash App®. These are proprietors that function independently of MembersFirst Credit Union and have separate policies, security, and fraud procedures. Please use extreme caution when using these apps.
